basepointCrawley Wasps U15 1 – 0 Cuckfield Cosmos U15

Our first league game in 2016 away to Cuckfield Cosmos, A cold Winter’s morning would see the Crawley Wasps Under 15s take a quick start to the game and putting alot of pressure on Cosmos defence, the wasps girls playing with confidence and some great passing from our midfield players. On 30 Minutes a great ball played into Beth Clawson from Abbie Chart, beth playing the ball inside to Jodie Barker passing the ball back into Beth Clawson who took a shot on goal with the wind behind the ball lifting high into the goal mouth, beth was not giving up and won the ball back and hit the ball hard at goal, the cosmos keeper trying to keep hold of the ball could only watch Beth get hold of the ball and slotting home to take the 1-0 win.
Into the 2nd half cosmos came back into the game trying all different attacks but our defence of Abbie Chart, Chloe Baines, Chloe Coaker and Millie Baverstock were working hard with Keeper Feitong Wilde keeping cosmos at bay, a few errors with tiredness showing some fresh legs introduced to hold the game out. With 15 Minutes to go Lily Beckett and Caitlin Baigent linking well with Topaz Luxford looked certain to increase the lead only to shoot wide, a clash of heads for Chloe Baines would force another change from the sidelines. A last minute attack from Cosmos but the ball being cleared off the lines from Jodie Barker as the final whistle would blow. Todays Player of the match : Beth Clawson.

Under 15 Match Report – Withdean Hawks 3 – 3 Crawley Wasps

Crawley Wasps U15 travelled to Brighton to take on Withdean Hawks, which luckily given the weather was played on a 3G Surface – a first for our girls.

Wasps took a strong squad of 15 to the game, and after our minute silence for Remembrance Day, got proceedings underway and immediately looked dangerous with our new formation.

The front three three of Lily Beckett, Topaz Luxford and Nicky Durling all worked hard attacking the Hawks’ goal and in the first 10 minutes Wasps were well on top. A great ball played in from Nicky found Beth Clawson, who crossed the ball into Lily Beckett and a lay-off to Jodie Barker allowed the latter to put Wasps 1-0 up with a sweet left-footed strike.

Hawks tried to get back into the game but on 20 minutes some more great link-up play between Beckett and Barker found Luxford, who went through the Hawks’ defence and put the visitors 2-0 up.  Just before half-time Hawks beat goalkeeper Feitong Wilde to bring it back to 2-1.

With some changes at the break, the girls were playing some great football but let Hawks back into the game and suddenly we were back to 2-2. But Wasps never gave up and great play down either wing from Caitlin Baigent and Clawson made life difficult for the hosts.

After 65 minutes Wasps were back in front. Chloe Coaker and Mollie Martin played the ball out of defence and linked up with Barker, who found Beckett and the forward beat the offside trap to fire home Wasps’ third.  As the clock ticked down, Hawks were trying everything to get back into this game and as Wasps went up for a corner a quick break allowed the hosts to find the equaliser.

Skipper Chloe Coaker headed home the first goal to give Wasps the lead.

Straight away Wasps were attacking again, our defence of Abbie Chart, Chloe Baines, Millie Baverstock &and Kiera Beavan were working really hard to not let town in and had a tough job wth some pacey wingers but doing a excellent job.

A pacey attack down the right hand Ssde would see a cross sent in from Caitlin Baigent finding Chloe Coaker who slotted the ball into the back of the net 2-0.

Town were quick to react and a fast run down the right wing and a superb shot just beating keeper Feitong Wilde 2-1.

With five minutes to go of the first half Town had attacked Wasps’ area, and trying to clear the ball the Crawley Town player just got clipped and referee pointed to the spot. Holding her line well as the shot was taken but beat the Wasps keeper, going in at half-time 2-2.

Lily Beckett running at the Town backline laying the ball off to Coaker who fired the ball into the back of the net to complete her hat-trick again and scored her ninth goal of the season.

Town scored an equaliser with five minutes to go.

A long ball over the Town defence found Chloe Coaker and Caitlin Baigent running in and Coaker hit the back of the net only to see the linesman’s flag up.
