Our photographer Alan Sillwood-Brown captured the day we made our FA Women’s Southern Premier Division debut. Here’s some of his photos…
Some of our Under-13s got the fantastic chance to go behind-the-scenes today at the Crawley site of our main-club sponsors Thales.
It was part of a special STEM Day (that’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) laid on exclusively for us by Thales.
Our youngsters were given hands-on demonstrations of some of the company’s state-of-the-art technology, and an informative tour of the large complex at Manor Royal.
Chairman Paul Walker, who joined them on the trip, said: “The support of Thales has been game-changing. The club has gone from strength to strength and achieved more in the last four years than in the previous 24.”
Below is a selection of images from the day…
Crawley Wasps had a special guest of honour at our most recent training session – Chelsea Ladies full-back Hannah Blundell.
The England Under-23 international was there to present each of our Under-12s, Under-11s and development squad players with a brand new kit bag, containing their own Wasps training gear, plus balls and cones for them to hone their skills in their own time.
Blundell was joined at the presentation by Anne Tickner, head of HR at Thales Crawley, the club’s main sponsor, whose backing proved invaluable in producing the bags and training kit.
There were a sea of proud, smiling faces as each player had their photograph taken alongside Hannah, Anne and Wasps’ vice-chairman Paul Walker.
Eastbourne-born Blundell, a regular in the Chelsea Ladies first-team who has played in two Women’s FA Cup finals and the Under-20 Women’s World Cup, was also presented with a Wasps shirt as a token of the club’s appreciation for her visit.
She said: “It’s always exciting to get new kit – I even get excited when we get new kit atChelsea!
“It’s nice to see so many girls so happy and a girls club growing as big as it is.
“It’s great as well to have sponsorship like Thales – it’s nice to see that they want to get involved in women’s football.”
Wasps would like to thank Anne Tickner and Thales for their continued support, and Hannah Blundell for taking time out of her WSL title-chasing schedule to join us.
