Captain Jodie Barker scored the winner from a free-kick to ensure Crawley Wasps Under-16s got their league campaign off to a great start, 4-3 victors at Ringmer Rovers.
They dominated the game early on and opened the scoring when debutant Emma Brookbank played a one-two with Billie Saunders before firing home from 25 yards.
Despite an equaliser from Ringmer, Wasps worked really hard and regained the lead going into half-time, thanks to Caitlin Baigent.
They continued to have the better of the game early in the second half and made it 3-1 when a swinging ball from Beth Clawson found Topaz Luxford and she made no mistake.
Ringmer, though, were proving tough to put away and the home side stormed back to score twice in 15 minutes to level the game.
But up stepped Barker with a beauty of a free-kick and Wasps closed the game out to take the three points.
