Crawley Wasps’ reserves recorded their biggest win since April 2016 as they beat a short-handed Meridian 10-0 on Sunday.
Rosanne Fine scored a hat-trick, taking her season tally to 10 in four games, while Wasps’ latest signing Mille Carter netted twice as a substitute as they made their extra man advantage count.
The result – which comes just two weeks after they beat the same opposition 9-0 – maintains their 100 per cent record at the top of the South East Counties Premier Division.
Catherine O’Hagan rolled a shot against the post early on before Wasps took the lead on 11 minutes through Toni Smith’s effort, following energetic work from Lauren Callaghan.
Fine then struck twice, first from Amy Woollard’s cross and then converting Callaghan’s delivery.
Defender Hannah Duncan headed in Natalie Stephenson’s corner for her first goal since December 2016 to leave the hosts 4-0 up at the break.
In the second half, Fine continued to show her sharpness inside the box to complete her treble, while Nicholle Smith added the sixth.
Eighteen-year-old Carter – previously on the books of Lewes, Brighton and Portsmouth – laid on a goal for O’Hagan and then netted herself after shifting away from a couple of defenders.
Stephenson’s rocket from long range was the pick of the goals, before Carter’s cross-cum-shot looped in over the goalkeeper.
Wasps reserves: Samain; Richards, Rippin, Duncan, Ward; Woollard, Natalie Stephenson, T. Smith, Callaghan; O’Hagan, Fine. Subs: Bolton, Svaikevic, N. Smith, M. Carter, Martin.
