Crawley Wasps 6 – Crawley Town 0
Wasps might consider themselves fortunate to have made the semi-final in the Sussex Girls U14 League Challenge Cup against local rival Crawley Town. It was Town who started brightly and carved several very good openings in the first 15 minutes but found Wasps keeper Lauren Graves in inspired form as she made several great saves, twice diving at the feet of Town strikers as they were about to shoot. It was against the run of play that Wasps took the lead, a quick throw from Graves to Poppy Nicholls who fed Chanelle Gainsford, who’s first time ball played in Amy Perry to slot the opening goal. Five minutes later Perry grabbed her second with a deflected shot from the edge of the box before sealing her hatrick when Yasmin Church and Macy Watts combined to set her up. The second half was another even affair although it was Wasps who started quicker and Amy Perry grabbed her fourth goal within two minutes after being played in by Chloe Upton. Within 10 minutes Yasmin Church grabbed a brace after being set up by Nelly Gainsford and Chloe Wallage. Graves continued to keep Town at bay in the second half with several more saved and secured the Player of the Match Award as a result. Wasps go on to meet Horsham Sparrows in the semi-final.
